The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Federal Republic of Germany celebrated the Day of Statehood by organizing a reception in its premises. The guests at the reception were officials from the Chancellery, the Bundestag, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions, as well as from German economic and academic circles.

The reception was also attended by representatives of the diaspora - presidents of Serbian associations from Berlin, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.

"On the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, we mark two important dates - the beginning of the First Serbian Uprising against the Ottoman Empire in 1804 and the adoption of the first Serbian constitution in 1835, which was one of the most modern constitutions of Europe at the time," said Ambassador Jankovic. Back then Serbian people were united in struggle for freedom and justice, values ​​we are committed to until this very day. "

The ambassador pointed out that today, Serbia is a modern country that aspires the full membership in the EU, along with building friendly relations with all countries in the world. Emphasizing that EU membership is our main foreign policy priority, she thanked Germany for its support on our path to fulfilling that goal.

"Germany has been our most important partner in the political and economic sense for years, and last year, despite the pandemic, was marked by an intensive political dialogue," said Ambassador Jankovic, and, among other things, expressed confidence that Serbia would continue good cooperation with the new German government as well, in numerous areas of common interest.

The President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Čadež said that Germany is not only the largest economic partner and one of the largest investors in Serbia, but also the number one destination for the export of Serbian products. He pointed out that Germany has invested over three billion euros in Serbia, in the economy and infrastructure, and expressed his firm belief that the bilateral cooperation in the field of economy will continue to grow.
