H.E. Dr. Snezana Jankovic, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Federal Republic of Germany, visited Lusatian Serbs in the State of Brandenburg, in the area of ​​Lower Lusatia. The Ambassador showed a desire to deepen contacts and to develop cooperation with Lusatian Serbs, whose language, customs and culture are very close to ours. Ambassador Janković visited the town of Guben / Gubin on the German-Polish border and the town of Cottbus, where she had a meeting with mayors and representatives of cultural institutions and associations of Lusatian Serbs.

Both sides stressed importance of improving contacts and cooperation as well as opportunities for presenting the culture of Lusatian Serbs in Serbia and Serbian culture in parts of Germany where Lusatian Serbs live. One of the first activities in that regard will be the visit of the representative of the city of Guben / Gubin to Novi Sad as the European Capital of Culture for 2022, at the end of September.
